The Hagerstown Suns Fan Club held its annual Winter Meeting and Hall of Fame Dinner on Saturday, January 26. This year there were several highlights, including record attendance, a new venue, and guest speaker Dane Anthony.
For the third year in a row, the Fan Club topped its own attendance record at a given Winter Meeting. The overall attendance amounted to 98 individuals, topping the figures of 96 and 82 from 2012 and '11 respectively. In addition to the Fan Club's most loyal and regular members, the attendees included several new faces who were attending the event.
Leiters' Downtown, a fine catering venue located in downtown Hagerstown, served as the host of the event for the first time ever. The Fan Club would like to publicly thanks Leiters' for the hard work their staff put into this gathering and their efforts made the night even more special.
Last, but not least, was the Fan Club's Hall of Fame induction. With five players inducted in 2013, the Fan Club honored 1981 Sun Dane Anthony in person. Anthony, who threw the first ever pitch in Suns' history and was a Carolina League All-Star that season, addressed the crowd for his acceptance speech. The highlights of his talk can be viewed in the video below.
